"We" Need to Say What "We" Mean or "We" Should Say Nothing AT All
"We the people" need to tell Washington what we want & think despite how we feel if we are to expect them to know the difference & behave the same...
Just as we are a product of our parents,
politicians are a reflections of the public.
...for better or worse.
Here is a virtual pat on the back from me to our public servants:
Thanks bunches. <3
I know that you are trying...

Land of the Free For Sale that was Built on the Lake of Fired
@abc ...so I get that Combat Hospital is probably going to be a good show & good for our country's morale, but what I don't understand is why you had to cancel Off the Map after only one season when you have Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, General Hospital, Dr. Oz and The Doctors. I mean: Isn't a show about helping people & doctors in third world countries not only good for our own citizens' morale but also a positive way to promote our perceived generous character -- from a network that might as well be renamed "The Medical Channel" anyway (as opposed to the ambiguously arrogant "ABC News 'TV Network'" per Facebook)? The writing & casting of Off the Map was superb not to mention the set locations, and I just can't comprehend spending all of that time, energy & MONEY creating & PROMOTING a show that I am CERTAIN got reviews & ratings that were JUST AS GOOD as a LOT of other shows that ARE STILL on the air -- then just deciding to KILL IT. Where is the "DO NO HARM" in your reasoning when influencing your viewers to pursue HUMANITARIAN endeavors & careers? ...JUST ASKIN'. ...and thanks for at least having local affiliates FOR NOW because that IS what is keeping my TV tuned into your network when you are trying to make up your mind(s) whether or not you are going to make this "relationship" work -- since you again seem to be under the perception that you are merely SENDING & forgetting that a RECEIVER is required to "hear" your trees fall. At least the technology hasn't... "Are you sure?" Copy that & thanks, also, for the return of Rookie Blue for now anyway. I am sure that the cast & crew will loyally, not royally, "serve & protect" as long as they are not served pink slips. God Bless American Broadcasting Company..

Simply Complicated (Edited 6/4/2011)
I'm all for keeping & bringing back "reality" shows in the form of variety & game shows because people have to TRAIN & COMPETE to be on them, but what I do NOT understand is replacing PROFESSIONALLY-TRAINED ACTORS & ACTRESSES with people that are fame whores & that could coach us on "how-to" do things on a SPECIALIZED CHANNEL OR THE INTERNET. Something just does NOT add up. I don't care WHO is in charge of doing the books. SOMETHING DOES NOT ADD UP, @ABC, @NBC & @CBS. Why go to all of the trouble in HIRING ACTORS, ACTRESSES, PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS & OTHER CREW MEMBERS and CREATE BRAND NEW SHOWS ONLY TO "KILL" THEM WITHIN A YEAR, SO ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO GOT THEIR HOPES UP ABOUT SUCCEEDING IN "THE BUSINESS" & HAVING JOB SECURITY HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GO? ...NOT UP? ...NOT DOWN? ...NOWHERE? WHERE IS THE CONSISTENCY & THE GLAMOUR THAT USED TO BE WHAT DREW PEOPLE TO GO TO THE TROUBLE TO RELOCATE & REHEARSE? WHERE IS THE ART IN THIS PLAN? WHERE ARE OUR DREAMS? I'm AGAIN afraid to mention the shows that I actually DO enjoy for FEAR that you will CANCEL them because it is becoming crystal clear that the "average" person does not matter, and that is who butters YOUR bread, people, so I will try to have more compassion upon you when YOU end up PHYSICALLY UNABLE to PERFORM whatever it is that YOU think that YOU are contributing to what is ALSO MY country & society -- then you have had upon me. ...because those that HAVE shown me mercy have been those that have not only SUFFERED but have learned to EMPATHIZE from it as a RESULT. ..and believe it or not, I DID learn something fundamentally equal & lateral to this "secret" of success in a business class (Economics 101): COST VS BENEFITS. ...and SUPPLY VS DEMAND. Newsflash: You are not all of these without a "vs" somewhere, TOO, and you are NOT the only "party" in a position to make DEMANDS without SUPPLYING SOME COMPENSATION (EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY AND YES. ...FINANCIALLY). "Hear ME now, hear ME later or get the hell off MY channel." God Bless AMERICA & ALL who long to breathe FREE -- which includes ME, TOO.

Amazon.com: DeLonghi DCF212T Drip Coffeemaker with Convenient ...
I broke my coffee pot not long ago, so I had to replace my coffeemaker. I found a previous model of this brand in white at Goodwill, and I love it. It has a 24 hr timer, which is similar to the one that I had before, but this one also has an Aroma setting; something that I was unfamiliar with. It maximizes the coffeemaking process by timing the water, so it adds it into the filter in installments, and that also lets the aroma have time to circulate throughout the kitchen. ...nice. Oh, and it has a nylon filter, so I don't have to buy anymore paper coffee filters, which is both economical & environmentally friendly. Win/Win :)

Shipwrecked in the Boondocks
I am really disappointed that God's Country Radio is no longer being aired on public radio in my market (Lexington, KY), which has Air 1 Radio & K-LOVE Radio- 88.1 Somerset,Kentucky. Not that I am against the other stations, but there are ARE conservative, COUNTRY MUSIC fans like me that want to hear positive, upbeat & uplifting songs without having to filter through some of the "other" stuff.
PLZ TAKE NOTE, 92.9 The Bear because I have been switching to 98.1 The Bull / WBUL Lexington a LOT lately -- not just because they have a local morning show but because they also play a VARIETY of Country songs not only from the current hits but from past years.
There is a LOT to choose from, and you have an opportunity to play songs that will either encourage or discourage your listening audience as well as make or break the careers of upcoming artists many of which have been sadly overlooked in this market.
In this difficult, economic time, I would think that playing songs that will motivate people rather than make every-day tasks more difficult would be beneficial not only to the listener but also to the station as well as be more profitable for all.
I'm not saying that playing songs that reflect BOTH ups & downs is bad, but playing certain songs over & over -- especially in the Winter -- that are not emotionally nor spiritually uplifting is detrimental, and as much as I have tried to remain loyal to one station, I have found that doing so was like being trapped in a a bad marriage; something that I am not capable of doing.
I understand that there is a requirement by certain powers that be to play specific artists & songs, but there has to be a compromise somewhere in the playlist. ...and I believe that there should be a choice, so having two stations that play Country music in a market as big as Lexington & Central Kentucky should not be an issue as long as both stations are making every effort to balance the music being played & the advertising that is necessary to provide this service to the public.
I can only guess that certain parties have catered to a few persons & parties that have made noise about this issue, and although there is a large number of residents in Lexington & Central Kentucky that are from or have relatives in Eastern Kentucky, not everyone wants to hear "traditional" Country nor even Bluegrass (-gasp-) all of the time -- NOT even those that live there as I can attest to by being someone who falls into both groups (as a former resident of Eastern Kentucky with many friends & family in that region, also).
I think that "old" Country AND Bluegrass are GREAT, and they have their place especially since they are the foundation of anything considered "Country" being played today, and I am equally fond of "Souther Rock" & artists that have crossed over & have combined styles, so to exclude all of one group to focus on another, to me, is just shooting yourself in the foot.
I am one who can appreciate that there is a new generation of artists creating new music every day, since I am both a Country Music fan & a parent of a young adult, but from my experience in both categories, I can tell you that appreciating what is BOTH "old" AND "new" is what MAKES a person a Country Music fan.
Otherwise, you not only drive the audience to a different station but ALSO drive them to search for other genres then ultimately, always coming back to what is considered as "home," which IS Country Music -- only to find that lying, dying & cheating is what is being glamorized & glorified 24/7 STILL -- what our parents & grandparents continuously & repeatedly WARN us about.
...when there are a LOT of artists who have graduated & EVOLVED THEMSELVES to a higher plane. They have explored new styles & themes based upon THEIR own life experiences but are often being overlooked & neglected by younger, "hotter" artists that are singing about the same old thing (SEX), TOO, which is only setting up the newer artists as well as fans for future disappointment, ALSO.
Yes. Indeed, sex MAY sell -- as well as going off about a cheating husband or boyfriend, but SO DO SONGS ABOUT OTHER THINGS IN LIFE because that IS what is "REAL."
I am overjoyed & honored that my own daughter has grown into a Country Music fan in her own right, but what concerns me is that she will feel the same, future disappointment by the time that she is my age when she searches for a radio station on the dial for something that isn't squawking about hooking up then giving up without thinking that she has to settle for "Gospel" stations if that is not what she wants to hear all day EITHER -- or "Oldies" that are NOT Country -- or "Pop"/"Rock" stations that, when they DO play a song by a "Country" artist, they are remixed, so they can be disguised as something more "acceptable" to those not living in the South or Rural (-gasp- again) areas.
God forbid that we are not ashamed of the fact that we believe in God, Redemption & our COUNTRY, which before interstates & skyscrapers, did have literal ROOTS -- from things like trees & FAMILIES.
It would be really nice if Kentucky could rally around & agree upon something other than the Wildcats. ...not that there is anything wrong with that, but where does that enthusiasm go after the games end?
We are being steamrolled in every area but basketball.
Meanwhile, I miss "My Old Kentucky Home." ...or at least what I thought of what it would be by now. ...what I saw it as when I came here as a young child. ...what I thought I had stayed here for by the time that I became a mother.
...but then again, I am "not always right."
I was just under the impression that morals did not change, and Biblical principles were the foundation of society in these parts.
Where is THAT Kentucky? Was it just a dream?
Every place has both good & bad characteristics.
I just wish that more of the good ones could have lasted longer without feeling like we sold out & settled for everything else in the process.

Dollar Tree
Dollar Tree Stores are a great place to stock up on holiday supplies, gifts & other items that normally cost at least twice as much at other department stores. They have such a great selection that it is not easy to keep from shopping there for a lot of items that are just too numerous to mention, and what's great is that you walk out spending so little but feeling like you have bought so much. :)
dawn dish detergent
Dawn dish detergent is hands-down the best dish detergent on the market in my opinion. It might cost a little more, but it is super concentrated, and it lasts so much longer than any other brand. It cleans my dishes so much better than other brands whether they are store brands or not, and a little goes such a long way. My favorite Dawn detergent is the Apple Scented. It makes washing dishes seem much less like a chore & more like a reward for a job well done. If you are concerned about your hands being dried from dish detergent, Dawn also offers a formula with Olay to replenish the moisture in your hands. :) I am much more confident when washing dishes with Dawn, and it it amazing what a difference it makes when trying to clean greasy, dirty cookware. Dawn is awesome. I just can't rave about it enough.
Suave hair
Suave hair care products are for people who want quality products at an affordable price. There is a shampoo & conditioner for every type, and it is available at almost any retail, discount, department or grocery store. My regular shampoo is the Suave shampoo for brunettes, and I love the rich conditioner to match. You can't beat it for the price.

purina carvers roasted chicken or beef dog snacks
These are some of the best dog treats E-VER. They are Made with over 80% real chicken or beef, and my dog loves to receive them as a reward for tricks or just have them for a treat.
They are reasonably priced compared to other snacks, and they are often on sale &/or have coupons on them sometimes.
I have bought them at Kroger & Walmart, but I know that they are available online & at PetSmart, too.
I have also found them in two sizes, so that has been good depending upon whether I wanted to buy chicken, beef or both kinds and how much I've wanted or been able to buy at that time. The larger size is more economical if you can buy it, (which is not always the case if you pay attention to those things, but convenience is a factor to take into consideration as far as the cost vs benefit w/any purchase) .
